New Designs

We have a list of designs that we have cut already, but if you don't already know, we can cut kits for almost any design where we have the copyright owner's permission.

So, if you've been having a look through a designer's catalogue, and see a design that you want to build, contact us, and we will go through the following stages.

  1. We will contact the copyright holder to obtain permission to cut the kit.  This is not normally a problem, and we have agreements in place with Selway Fisher, Dix Design, and Iain Oughtred for cutting their kits.  We have also dealt with a couple of other designers on a one-off basis.  If necessary (and usually so), we will agree a royalty payment to the designer for the use of their design.

  2. We will need a copy of the plans to work from.  If you already have the plans, we will ask you to send us a copy of these.

  3. To price the kit, we will ask the designer what the estimated ply requirement is for the design.  From this, we will give you a quote for the production of the kit.

  4. We will ask you for a 50% deposit for the development work involved in the new kit.  Once we know how much ply is needed for cutting the kit, we will ask you for the balance.  We will not start cutting the wood until we have received payment in full.  We are often though not always able to make savings on the designer's estimated ply requirements.

  5. It may be that the copyright owner already has exclusive arrangements in place with another company to cut their kits.  If this is the case, we will not be able to cut the kit for you, and will point you towards the other company.
