The Badger is close to the proportions of the traditional Thames Skiffs – though still a bit smaller than most and a lot lighter. It is possible to fit her out with a second rowing station if required, or she can be built as a single. With two rowers she is a very fast boat.
The idea with these light skiffs is to offer an alternative to the serious racing shells and sculls, which are good for racing and training but no use for anything else, and not much fun at all in places s where room is restricted – i.e. most sheltered waters.
These skiffs offer excellent performance, and are easily stored, transported, launched and maintained. They are great for getting a bit of exercise, while at the same time having enough stability for a pleasant and relaxed drift down the river, with a friend or two and a picnic hamper.
If you are really keen, there is enough space in the boat to fit a couple of sliding seat rigs.
The Badger kit is available in 6mm and 9mm, with the 9mm being intended for Boat Hire businesses.
